About Us
The Community Youth Collective (CYC) supports and empowers local youth in Tsitsikamma, focusing on individualised support and nurturing passions.
The CYC is run by a group of passionate individuals, who all have unique skillsets and connections with children in our area. The collective was inspired by the collaboration of existing Youth Initiatives in Tsitsikamma. Inspiration also came from beautiful community members who are dedicated to positive change in our community, by supporting, empowering, and nurturing our children.
The CYC works with Local Businesses and individuals to promote a supportive and nurturing environment for our youth to pursue their passions and learn from local professionals, artists and each other. The hope is to inspire others to make their own positive impact on local youth, extending to Tsitsikamma, South Africa, their own local community, and the world.
Our Purpose
We are dedicated to nurturing a supportive environment where young people can thrive. Our objectives include:
Nature-based upliftment: Offering youth the opportunity to engage with nature to foster care for the environment, thus promoting sustainability and conservation.
Creative expression: Having the space to encourage and nurture creativity and self-expression through various art forms, including music education.
Social connection: Building a supportive community for youth to connect and grow together.
Intergenerational learning: Facilitating skill sharing between local elders and youth, allowing youth to expand their context of the world and understanding.
Entrepreneurial empowerment: Collaborating with local entrepreneurs to teach practical skills and opportunities, empowering youth to craft their own futures.
